Updating Text in the Document Editor

When text is manually edited from within a page in the Document Editor, the connection between that page and the Listing Edit Form is severed. This means that any new updates made in your Listing Edit Form will not push to that specific page.

The Listing Edit Form is the single source of truth for your listing's marketing information. All of the data in this form will populate to your marketing materials via a one-way connection. If the connection between the Listing Edit Form and the Document Editor were two-way, then any edits made to the text in your document would update the original data in the Listing Edit Form. This would, in turn, update the text in all of your marketing materials at once (email blasts, property websites, etc.). To prevent any editing errors from appearing on all of your marketing materials, manual text edits in the Document Editor simply sever the one-way connection between the form and that page. This way, you may edit the text on your document while keeping the original information in the Listing Edit Form intact.

For this reason, we recommend avoiding manual text edits within the Document Editor and solely updating your information in the Listing Edit Form whenever possible for the best results. If you do make manual edits on a page and need to reset that page, click on the refresh icon in the purple bar at the top of the page to restore the page to default settings.

Using PDFs in Buildout Documents

While Buildout's core pages provide a wealth of options, there may be times when you'd like to bring outside content into your documents. For these times, we have a PDF Document page that you can use to import a raw PDF into your document or a PDF with Header/Footer page that allows you to bring in your PDF and apply your branding by adding your header and footer to the page. Note: with the PDF with Header/Footer page, it will place the headers right over the page so we recommend ensuring their is enough blank space on your PDF to fit these so that your information does not become covered.

Using Saved Pages in Buildout Documents

Saved Pages are essentially snapshots of the page they were created from with updated content; once saved, they will appear at the bottom of your Page Library with a star to the left of the page title. Since they share the same page template, Saved Pages can only be found in the same libraries that the original page appears in.

Reasons why Saved Pages don’t appear in a page library:

  • Different Document Types

  • Different Versions of Documents

  • Different Page Orientations

  • Different Versions of Original Pages

Pages you should avoid turning into Saved Pages

Certain pages in Buildout documents are more advanced than others. While several pages can be snapshotted and saved, there are a few pages that draw their content directly from the Property Edit Form of the original listing under which they were created. For this reason, we recommend that you avoid saving pages such as:

  • Retailer Map Pages

  • Site Plan Pages

  • Comps Pages

  • Financials Pages

If you find that you are wanting to save pages with any of the information listed above, we'd recommend the workaround of saving the page as a PDF. Then, you can insert the PDF into whatever document you'd like via the PDF Document page in the Page Library.
