Backdating your data in Manage & Close

Your options for backdating your data year to date in Manage & Close

Updated over 2 years ago

If your commission plans have tiers, meaning the split between the brokerage and the broker changes as the broker closes more deals, you may have a need to "true up" your commission plans when implementing Manage & Close.

For example, if your fiscal year begins in January and you are implementing Manage & Close in October, your brokers have closed deals and earned commission that has advanced them along their commission plan for the year.

In order to "true up" your commission plans, you have a few options.

We offer three options for backdating your data in Manage & Close:

Add each deal your brokerage has completed year to date as a voucher.

This option is the most time consuming, but provides the most data for future reference.

In chronological order, add each deal that has closed this year as a voucher from the voucher index. So that commission plan progress is accurately measured, you'll need to ensure that commission plans have been created and are properly assigned before you start.

Commission splits should be calculated on each voucher using the brokers' commission plans. Choosing the correct commission plan will ensure that earnings on the deal will advance the commission plan.

Once vouchers have been added, deposits should be applied to each receivable in the order in which they were received. Payments to brokers should likewise be applied in the order in which they were paid.

Adjust your brokers' earnings

This option involves forgoing year to date data for each deal in favor of truing up your brokers' year to date earnings by simply adjusting their earnings from the broker earnings' dashboard.

Each payment to your brokers after the initial adjustment will advance the commission plan accordingly.

Many of our Manage & Close customers opt to take advantage of the commission plan functionality when the commission plans reset for the year, enjoying and becoming familiar with the other functionality in the meantime.
